black mariahs play imro showcase tour:
the black mariahs have been selected to play in this year's imro showcase tour.
we're playing in the the galway/west of ireland leg in the GPO,eglinton street, Galway on wednesday 23th of april.other bands to be featured here this year include fuktifino and mali(who supported us in an o'malleys gig not too long ago),with the possibility of going to play dublin (vicar street last year) off the back of it.exciting times- it's sponsored by the dave fanning show,and a lot of bands have gone on to feature in fanning sessions on the back of it,as well as other tours.tickets are e5, black mariahs cds will be available at the gig.
college bar gigs:
the band will be playing in the college bar in NUI,galway on the 27th of march following recent successful gigs there. music kicks off around 9.30 pm, featuring new originals and covers...
new recordings:
we're planning to make a serious go at recording some new songs in about a month's time. the likes of drop in the ocean and dark roots are going down very well at gigs at the moment,so we want to get them recorded decently as soon as possible.anyone interested in getting stuff we've already recorded should email me at theblackmariahs@hotmail.com, or check the sounds page.
o'malleys under new management:
it's all change in the city as o'malleys, the pub where the black mariahs and so many other galway bands played their first gigs (for all the wrong reasons), is under new management. maybe bands will actually get paid to play there now...all the same, without o'malleys there would be a hell of a lot of bands who would never get a chance to play in galway,let's hope the new owners are as open-minded, and a bit freer with cash...

the black mariahs are a rock and roll band from galway. influenced by the sounds of the rolling stones, led zeppelin, jimi hendrix,rory gallagher, the small faces and the clash, the black mariahs play classic 70's style rock with a harder modern edge.
